Ask Sevier County to follow the lead of 12 other States!

President Obama is attempting to blackmail states, public school boards, and administrators by saying that if they don’t allow boys to utilize girls bathrooms if they self-identify as a gender other than what’s on their birth certificate, he will withhold federal education funds. This is not only blatantly unconstitutional and another attack on American values designed to fundamentally transform America, but it’s dangerous. Obama is recklessly putting the safety of America’s children at risk, and he is willing to let all students suffer educationally in order to upend eons of social norms.

This directive is simply bad policy. Just last week, an eight year old Chicago girl was rendered unconscious in a restaurant’s women’s bathroom by a sexual predator. Thankfully, her mother walked into the bathroom just in time to see the predator carrying the girl into a stall, and prevented him from completing his heinous act. There’s no guarantee that an older boy in school won’t attempt a similar act if this mandate is enforced. The only safeguard our children have here is to require students to use bathrooms according to their gender.

We strongly encourage parents and grand-parents demand that the Sevier County School Board and Superintendent refuse to comply. Sevier County residents must also make time to contact their state representatives and senators. Tell them to follow the example of twelve other states, take a stand against Obama’s immoral edict, and simply say “No, we will not comply”. Senator Alexander said we should do as much in his recent statement regarding this directive: “…And guidance issued by the departments does not amount to federal law and should not be treated as such.”

This is your county, your state, your government. Your representatives and senators are your elected officials hired to represent you. Make government work for you. Our children’s safety is at risk.
